Rethinking Corporate Events

When you think of corporate events, tell me what comes to your mind. Is it long speeches, awkward small talk? Maybe a small buffet table that runs out of food a little bit too soon? And if we're lucky, an open bar. And yes, that can be a good thing. However, what if I told you there was a secret weapon that could transform any corporate event into a truly memorable experience?

Today we're talking about magicians for corporate events and how they can benefit and transform your function to something memorable and incredible. Hi, I'm corporate event magician Spencer Grey. I'm here to explain the incredible benefits that a magician can have at your next event including:

  • Holiday parties

  • Trade shows

  • Office parties

  • Employee appreciations

  • Fundraisers and Gala's

Full disclosure, I am a full time professional corporate event magician, so not only am I biased in writing this article, at the same time, I have a ton of experience attending these events so I know exactly what happens at them.

Why a Corporate Event Magician is the Ultimate Entertainment

Magicians are extremely versatile performers. They can adapt their act to pretty much any type of event or audience, making them an invaluable tool. Their ability to not just entertain and engage, but also to tell stories and share messages in a memorable way can help take your event to new heights.

Whether it's a presentation on stage in front of a large crowd, or during a cocktail hour or VIP party. Magicians don't just amaze, they help create lasting memories. You might be asking yourself, what are some different types of events where a magician might be a good fit?

Magicians at Trade Shows: Increase your Foot Traffic

One of my favorites as of recently has been trade shows. Everybody is trying to get visitors to their booth. More often than not with free giveaways like candy, food, coffee, cheap pens, pencils, coasters, stress balls, you name it. I've seen it all. And while there are some pretty innovative and unique giveaways it just doesn't feel special. It all feels like cheap junk that you're going to throw away in your hotel bathroom.

So here's the truth. Trade shows are crowded and it's hard to stand out. Placing a magician at your booth not only draws crowds and keeps people engaged. It's also a unique way to get your brand message across. Incorporating corporate event magician with your product or service, for example, a tech company hired me to perform magic that was tech themed.

I used an iPad to wow and amaze passerby's and it increased booth engagement. We got more visitors than they had ever gotten before. Kept people at their booth longer, and it was a nice way to stand out from everybody else. I was the only magician at the trade show, and everybody after a while wanted to come to our booth because they knew that was the spot to be. Sounds nice right?

Networking Events: It's Magically Creative

Another application or event type that I speak quite a bit about in these articles are networking events. The power the magician has to break the ice and encourage conversation, taking an event from awkward to awesome.

Since networking events can often feel forced or awkward, a magician performing close up miracles group to group, creating natural conversation starters is an ideal way to boost the overall feel of the event and get people excited.

I recently performed magic as a corporate event magician at a real estate networking event and while these types of folks are not shy and had no problem starting conversations with each other, the topics were typically the same. Everyone was busy trying to do business, which is fantastic and often what we're looking for at these types of events. However, having myself there, being able to break that up with something that's fun and engaging and amazing really meant a lot to the attendees.

They were able to bond over their amazement and shared experiences with the magic. The result? More organic connections.

Office Parties: Making the Ordinary Magical

Magic doesn't always have to be used as a tool for networking, or for getting across a message or brand. It can also be utilized simply to have fun.

For example, let's say you're the HR manager and you're throwing yet another office party. You've thrown dozens of these and it's always the same. You're not quite sure how to make it different, and this is where a magician can be the perfect solution.

I'm a big fan of company summer parties where I live. The weather is always nice during the summer. It's typically a family event, so employees will have their kids or significant others with them in attendance and it's all about making sure everybody is having fun. Everyone loves magic. Kids and adults. All ages. So magic is the perfect entertainment solution for making sure everyone has a great time and is an activity that everyone can enjoy together.

Hiring a corporate event magician is also a great way to say thanks to your employees. It's not uncommon to have employee appreciation parties throughout the year or at the end of each quarter. However, I'm guessing that you're running out of ideas. Food trucks, carnival games, and pizza parties are a thing of the past. A magician delivers a unique and personalized experience that shows the company that shows you the company cares, that shows employees that the company cares.

Holiday Parties: Magic for the Holiday Season

Holiday parties are also a wonderful application, making the event feel more festive and memorable. While many of these types of events will benefit from close up or mingling magic, holiday parties are a great time to engage everybody with a stage show. Microphone in hand, the magician can address the crowd performing amazing feats of magic and mind reading ensuring everyone has a fantastic time.

It's no secret that a magician can be utilized in many different types of events. So don't limit yourself. Get creative. No matter what the event is, a corporate event magician is capable of customizing their magic and entertainment to your event. Ensuring your event becomes a knockout.

Customizing Magic for Your Event: Make it Memorable

A big part of this is discussing with the magician your specific needs and vision for the event. I myself enjoy customizing my magic for the client to create something truly unique and memorable.
