How to Book a Corporate Event Magician: A Step-by-Step Guide

Writer: Spencer GreySpencer Grey

Hello friends, welcome back! Right now we're going to talk about how to book the perfect corporate event magician. So this is whether you are someone who's an HR planner, maybe you're a corporate decision maker or an event planner. These are going to be the things to look out for to help you on your journey for booking a really great magician and overall performer.

Step 1: Define Your Event and Audience

So step one, let's talk about what your event is and most importantly, who is going to be there. This is a very important step because magicians work a lot of different types of events. Even if you're booking a corporate magician who only does corporate events. You're going to want to communicate with them exactly what the focus of the event is and your goals, so that they can help transform your event into something memorable.

This is going to play into the type of magician you're going to book. For example, if you are doing a black tie gala, perhaps a stage magician who does big illusions or can perform while projected onto a screen, and something that's going to play to a big audience that's dazzling and mesmerizing. That might be a good fit. Or is this a more low key casual networking event where perhaps you want a close up magician who is going to roam the party, make people smile, engage them? And again, just something to add a little bit of uniqueness to it.

Step 2: Research Reviews and Testimonials

I highly recommend checking out reviews and testimonials, not just on their website, but look at reviews that are public on websites like Yelp.com or Google reviews because you know that those reviews are real. Anyone could put any type of review on their website. So just make sure that you're seeing a lot of positive reviews across the internet, and not just on the magician’s website.

Step 3: Discuss Budget and Customization

If you're looking to get a discounted rate or you have a tight budget, it's always worth it to discuss with the performer if they're willing to package different options together. For example, if you originally wanted a stage magic show, but the cost of the show is a little bit out of your budget. You can ask the magician if they'd be willing to throw in a little bit of Close-Up magic before the show to help provide extra value.

Now, as a performer myself, this is something that I like to offer as well. I personally hate for money to be the reason I don't get to work with somebody. So if the budget is tight and I can't bring my rate down, I'm happy to offer more value.

Step 4: Confirm Logistics and Details

So once you have your magician booked, this means you've spoken to them. You've confirmed all the logistics and details, including the time, what type of performance style they're going to have. All of those logistical things. The next step is going to be promoting the Magician's performance. This will ensure a great turn out at your event and can be the key to bringing a magician back each year.

Why Magic is a Great Addition to Corporate Events

As a corporate event magician, I have so much fun working these types of events. I'm lucky that I get to travel all over the United States, from the San Francisco Bay Area to Dallas, Texas, New York, Chicago, and perform at a wider variety of events. Not only do I have a blast, but the audiences have so much fun. Magic is exciting and memorable. And most importantly, I consider it to be a universal art form. It's something that everybody can enjoy, which makes it such a big hit at events.
